CAMBORNE slipped to fourth place in the South West One table going down in a high scoring game at league leaders Ivybridge.

Though the home side appeared out of sight at 39-20 with minutes remaining, the resilient Cherry and Whites struck back with two late converted tries earning a brace of precious losing bonus points.

Town started with Richard Kevern at centre whilst James Goldsworthy moved up to the second row, allowing fit again George Hall to resume at flanker.

The visitors pressed early on but the home side bagged a 7-0 lead scoring from their first meaningful attack.

David Mankee missed with a penalty effort before still inside the first quarter he found the posts to open the account.

Ivybridge had a purple patch in the second quarter to build an eight point advantage before Mankee cut the deficit with another penalty success.

On half time a converted home score stretched the lead, but early in the second period Camborne’s forwards drove hooker Sam Bartle over from a line-out. with Mankee adding the extras for 25-20.

Though Camborne pressed for long periods, they could get no closer and inside the final 20 minutes two slick converted Ivybridge tries bagged the spoils.

With time running out, right wing Rob Floyd was forced over for Mankee to convert and late on the rampant visiting pack surged over for replacement Stuart Milliner to dot down, narrowing the arrears to 39-34.

The Cherry and Whites now have two home games in a row to find winning ways again, first with Matson on Saturday before welcoming Wells the following week.
