STEPPING onto the Twickenham pitch will be “a dream come true” for young prop Tommy Phillips.

The Redruth player who grew up in Helston has been named on Cornwall’s replacements list for their County Championship Final on Sunday against Lancashire.

Phillips, who has also been part of the Cornish Under 20s side this season, said he has always wanted to play at the iconic stadium, adding it would be even sweeter to get on the scoresheet.

“I’m really, really excited about Sunday,” he said.

“Every child who plays rugby dreams of getting to play at Twickenham and I’d love to get on and play my part in the game, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

“Obviously I’ve also imagined myself scoring the winning try for Cornwall, but whether that comes or not is another matter.”

It is the first year Phillips has been involved with Cornwall’s senior squad and reflecting on his time around the camp, he said it has been a wonderful experience.

Phillips said: “Being around these players and high quality coaching staff has made me learn a lot and if I can bring some what I’ve learnt to Redruth next season, particularly at the scrum, then I feel I will really push my own game on.”
