OLD Dunstonians will be returning to Cornwall for the 81st year to continue one of the oldest rugby tours in the world.

The Kent-based side are travelling to the Duchy where they will face Penryn at the Memorial Ground on Friday for the Cobner Cup.

Then the following day they go to the Recreation Ground to take on Falmouth.

Last year's encounters saw the Dunstonians beaten 42-0 by Borough before they nabbed a closely fought 33-29 against the Eagles.

Excitement is building towards the matches from both their hosts over the Easter weekend with Arthur Williams, social co-ordinator at Falmouth, saying it is great to still have the fixtures in the calendar.

Williams said: “For rugby players around here there are two games they want to say they have played in locally, one being the annual Falmouth v Penryn match and the other being the game against Old Dunstonians.

“I am very proud to say I have played for both Falmouth and Penryn in the derby but also that I have featured for both teams against the Old Dunstonians.

“It really is a unique thing because sides do not really tour anymore, so to have a team still doing it after 80 years or so really is a big deal and it is great honour to play host to them.

“A lot of sports are losing their history and traditions, but this is one which is great to see continue and it really reflects the ethos of rugby.”

Friday's match kicks-off at 5.30pm while Saturday's begins at 2.30pm.
