Penryn under-11s took part in the Land Rover Cup competition in Exeter on Sunday.
In their first round robin match, they took to the field against Newton Abbot, and went down 5-0.
Next up, the Borough Boys took on North Petherton. After a previous drubbing, we conceded an early try, but, slowly the boys got back into the game – yet they couldn't quite score, eventually losing 2-0.
The third game was a Cornish derby against Perranporth. Borough's youngsters were on the attack from the start, and ran out 5-1 winners.
Game four of the group stage was against Wellington and after a scrappy match, Penryn won 2-1.
Then, for the match that the boys were all looking forward to – against Exeter Chiefs Youth Academy.
We came out of the blocks steaming to shock the Chiefs and take a 2-0 lead.
Exeter halved the deficit and Penryn soaked up the pressure until the dying moments when they scored an equaliser.
