Cornish children and young people have been working with graffiti artist, Cosmic, to decorate a shipping container at the United Downs Raceway, St Day.

The event was organised by grassroots charities Cirque du Ciel and Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C) for participants in CN4C’s weekly family activity group, 'Why Don’t You Club?'

The 40 foot mural was created in just one day over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Situated at the gateway to the pit area, the colourful container will be visible to all.

The organisers at the United Downs Raceway was so pleased with the result that 'Why Don’t You? Club' was welcomed as guests to the circuit’s first race meeting in June, and will take part in the Wacky Races, a three-day event running from 22 to 24 July.

The much-loved local amenity, known for stock car and banger racing, faces an uncertain future with a planning application to build an ultra high-tech biome on the raceway site still going through the planning process.

Crispen Rosevear, Race Director said: "I wanted to introduce kids from CN4C to the range of activity going on at St Day.
