Since moving from South Africa to Penryn, Cameron McDonald has become disgusted by the way that people can "deface such a beautiful country" by not cleaning up after their dogs.

Cameron cycles to work in Falmouth every day, and what used to be a "beautiful trip" is slowly being ruined as he comes across more and more litter and discarded bags of dog poo.

He has lived in Penryn for seven months, and says "I'm so surprised it's happening in a country like England. I'm not even from here but I admire this country so much, I feel so connected with it.

"It's got a system that works and for someone to disrespect that to such an extent that they leave their crap in the road is disgusting.

"I can't believe that people would deface such a beautiful country. These are first world, educated people and I can't believe it happens in a country where everyone gets everything for free."

The issue has also affected his family, as his three-year-old son stood in dog muck before jumping into the car a few weeks ago.

Cameron plans to be proactive with his complaints and wants to do something to make a difference in his new community.

He has organised a meeting with Penryn town mayor Shelley Peters and hopes to launch a campaign to tackle the issue of dog fouling and litter.

Cameron said: "I’m beyond furious and wish to be able to confront these people directly. It’s an absolute shame."

New data published by Cornwall Council has revealed which towns have had the highest number of reports about dog poo in 2018/19, with Falmouth coming in at number 7.
