ONE coronavirus death has been confirmed in Cornwall in the past 24 hours, the latest NHS England figures show.

Sunday's update confirms that the total at the Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust has risen to 57 from 56 yesterday.

The number of deaths at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust remains at 24, meaning that there have now been 81 deaths in hospitals from coronavirus in Cornwall.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said last week that there had been a minimum of 35 deaths in Cornwall outside of hospitals.

It means that the total number of deaths in Cornwall is at least 116.

Across England further 327 people who tested positive for coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 21,180.

Patients were aged between 46 and 101 years old. Of those, 17 patients - aged between 47 and 97 years old - had no known underlying health condition, NHS England said.

Their families have been informed.

In the south west as a whole there were 19 further deaths.

On Sunday evening the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly rose to 507.
