A Falmouth road will be closed for almost a week next month as resurfacing works take place.

Union Road will have a diversion in place from June 21 - 25 which will lead from Trescobeas Road, down Draceana Avenue to Falmouth Road.

Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times during this time period and works will begin at 7pm on June 21 and should be completed by 6am on June 25.

The diversion route is as follows: Head north-west towards A39, exit the roundabout onto A39, then at Ponsharden Roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Falmouth Road/A39.

Go through a single roundabout, turn right onto Kimberley Park Road and continue onto Trescobeas Road, enter the roundabout and the route should complete on your left.

In the order, Cornwall Council said: "Nothing in this order will apply to emergency services, traffic associated with the works required within the highway specified above, any vehicle being used for the purposes of an undertaker in an emergency, such as loss of utility supplies and anything done with the permission of or at the discretion of a police officer."

The resurfacing works come at a busy time for Falmouth, which will have just seen the completion of the G7 Summit by the times the works commence.

It also falls alongside works happening on Killigrew Street, High Street, Market Strand, Church Street, Arwenack Street and Webber Street that will have been occurring both before and after the completion of the Union Road resurfacing.

More information on this closure and diversion will be made available closer to the time.
