Members of one of Cornwall's coastguard rescue teams had their sleep interrupted twice as reports came in throughout the night.

The Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team were called out on two separate occasions last night to calls of lights on Mullion Island and a man with severe abdominal pains.

The first call came in at 11:22pm and crews were called out to a potential island rescue when lights were reported on Mullion Island.

However, on its way to the location the team was stood down as the origin of the lights were confirmed to be from a yacht in the bay.

The team were once again called out at around 05:51 to attend to a man camping who was suffering from severe abdominal pains.

Upon arrival the team monitored the casualty as well as attempting to make him as comfortable as possible until an ambulance arrived.

Once an ambulance had arrived the rescue team carried him to it via a stretcher.
