Just eight areas of Cornwall saw week-on-week cases of Covid rises in the latest update – a large fall from the 31 seeing an increase only a week ago.

It's after Cornwall and Isles of Scilly recorded 1,503 new positive test results during the seven days leading up to last Monday, September 13 - 725 fewer than during the preceding week, marking a 32.5% fall.

The figures are on a delay due to data for the most recent five days being incomplete.

The case rate is now averaging 261.2 cases per 100,000, which is a significant decrease on the 386.8 cases last Saturday.

The eight cluster areas with week-on-week rises are: The Lizard (26, up 12), Mevagissey & Polgooth (19, up two), St Austell East & Carlyon Bay (45, up 11), Par (24, up three), Dobwalls, Addington & Menheniot (43, up nine), Callington & Pensilva (22, up four), Launceston (42, up 13), Crackington & Tintagel (28, up one).

While not seeing a rise during this period, Camborne South is the individual cluster with the highest number of cases at 46, which is exactly the same as it recorded a week earlier.

Camborne is also the town with the highest number of combined cases, after recording 93 across its three cluster areas, despite seeing a fall on last week: Camborne West (20, down 24), Camborne South (46, no change), Camborne East (27, down 27). However this is 51 fewer than last Saturday's weekly total.

Falmouth Packet:

Falmouth continues to see cases fall every week, after being the highest recording town earlier in the summer.

In the most recent seven days recorded it saw only 33 cases across its three cluster areas, more than halving the 68 of the week earlier.

The map shows positive cases by 'Middle Super Output Area' - the name the government gives to the break-up of larger towns and groups of neighbouring towns and villages, with groupings covering a greater area than others.

The minimum population in each area is 5,000 and the average is 7,200.

Falmouth Packet:

Clusters are only shown when there are three or more new cases reported at any one time.

Anywhere with between zero and two cases shows white in order to "protect the privacy of individuals and prevent disclosure", the accompanying information states.
