Winger Orlando Anker has parted company with Toolstation Western League side Helston Athletic, just weeks after winning a fan voted player of the month award.

The winger scored four goals and grabbed an assist to claim the award in February.

However, after not appearing in the teamsheet for Helston's 0-0 draw with Bridgwater United it was revealed that Anker had left the club.

In an interview with the Packet Helston Athletic Manager Steve Massey said: "It was on the back of my chats with the lads that I am very looking to next year now. We probably are looking like the top two isn't on but I still want to finish in the top four or five.

"Our preparation for promotion next year starts from now, and I looked at Orlando and thought it was only fair to him that I told him that he wouldn't be in my starting lineup, and to keep him on the bench.

"I'd like to give the opportunity to some of the other younger lads who have been around and give them game time.

"I think he has been a super lad, he has been great to us, he has been great to have around.

"As for Orlando I wished him all the best, we certainly didn't fall out I thought it was only fair (to let him go). I could have kept him, but I knew the transfer deadline was coming up as well and I thought I'd give him an opportunity to play when he wouldn't be in my 11."

Helston's next match is at home to Brislington on Saturday, March 19.
