Speed checks following complaints from residents net multiple drives in just two hours while elsewhere a driver was found to have 32 points on his licence.

Last month, in response to public concerns regarding speeding vehicles on Kerrier Way, Camborne, Sandy Lane, Redruth and New Portreath Road, a mini traffic operation was carried out by student officers who conducted speed checks.

In less than two hours, seven drivers were dealt with by means of Traffic Offence Reports and multiple other drivers were issued warnings and given words of advice.

Posting on Facebook Camborne, Pool and Redruth Police said: "We know many don’t perceive speeding vehicles as pressing crime, however when residents contact us and request speed enforcement, we will do all we can to ensure the request is met.

"We will continue to try and attend areas highlighted by you, the public and residents, alternatively, for those of you interested in setting up your own Community Speed Watch, please contact your local officers who can give you more information or details can be found on the Devon and Cornwall police website."

Meanwhile officers in St Austell who pulled over a driver were stunned to discover he had 32 points on his driving licence.

The driver of the Ford was stopped for a range of motoring offences.

A roadside check revealed he already had 32 points already on their licence.

Police found out he did not have any valid road tax, MOT, insurance and his licence had expired.
