Organisers of one of Cornwall’s much-loved music events have revealed they are postponing this year’s Spring Ball until next year - but announced the 2023 date for its Halloween event.

Masked Ball organisers have taken to its Facebook page this week to announce that the Spring Ball will be postponed until May 2024.

It was cancelled for the foreseeable future in 2020 when organisers decided to leave the cliff-top site at Beacon Crag, Porthleven, as Masked Ball founder Kelvin Blatt said it was with a ‘heavy heart’ they were leaving their Spring Ball home.

This year’s ball was meant to be the first since 2019, however, due to the current rise in costs, organisers decided to postpone.

Kelvin told the Packet: “It was going to be the first since 2019, but the events industry is in a hard spot now, and we don’t want to risk not being able to put on the event we want.

“Next year’s event will be around springtime and will go back to its roots of being a ball rather than fancy dress.”

In a statement released on The Masked Ball’s Facebook page this week, organisers revealed their plans, saying: “So, after a lot of thinking and watching many events struggle with sales, we are gutted to say we’ve decided to postpone the spring ball until next year.

“It’s too much of a risk and we don’t want to do anything that didn’t knock your eyebrows off to the ankles.

“But this also gives us a whole year to plan an absolute weapon of an event for you next May.”

However, organisers have revealed the date for the popular Halloween Masked Ball, which takes place at Flambards in Helston every October / November time. This year the event will take place on Saturday, November 4.
