Thousands of people are expected to flock to Porthleven this weekend to celebrate the return of its award-winning and highly popular three-day event.

Porthleven Food Festival is one of Cornwall’s hugely popular food events. It welcomes cooking demonstrations from renowned chefs from all over the United Kingdom including Antony Worrall Thompson, Jude KereamaAdam Handling and Hylton Espey to name a few.

As well as cooking demonstrations taking place over the three days there will also be food stalls which will provide worldwide dishes and some more local to Cornwall, drinks stalls and arts and crafts stalls.

Here's what is happening throughout the three-day event: 

Friday, April 21

Cooking demonstrations will be taking place in the Food tent which will be located on the Harbour Head. Friday will see demonstrations from Kota chef-owner, Jude Kereama, Hylton Espey, Marcus Houghton, Ross Sloan, Nick Hemming, Dorian Janmatt, Jeffrey Robinson, Stew Eddy and Bryok Williams and Dan Bowden.

Ann’s Family Field Menu (the large field near the park) will include fairground rides and attractions for the children. At 4pm the winner of the ‘Design a Pasty’ competition will be announced followed by a silent disco from 4:15pm until 5:15pm. After the disco, there will be a performance by the Redruth rap duo Headluv + Passman.

Music will be provided by Smokey King’s Shufflers, C-Bone and DR Funk, and Accidental Hero on The Moors Stage.

The usual craft stalls and food tents will also be available to access from Friday.

Saturday, April 22

Saturday’s cooking demonstration comes from Antony Worrall Thompson, Jude Kereama, Stephane Delourme, Mick Smith, Andrew Tuck, Adam Handling, Tom Barnes, Guy Owen, and Rupert Cooper.

Ann’s Family Field will be open from 10am with Kids Yoga taking place from 10am until 11am, followed by ‘Kids Crimp Off’ from 11:15am until 11:45am. At 12:00pm Ann from Ann’s Pasty’s will be providing a pasty workshop. Between 1:15pm and 13:45 there will be a ‘DJ Workshop’ and a kids’ silent disco.  

At 2pm, guests will be treated to a live performance from the Oggymen followed by Ben Bowden at 3pm. Ola Loco at 4pm with DJ Denna closing the show at 5pm. 

Over on the Nauti Stage (by the Porthleven Clock Tower) Porthleven Town Band kicks off  the celebrations at 11:30am followed by the Hayle community choir Vocal Localz.

At 2pm Brazilian drum and dance group, Dakadoum will be providing entertainment with Cornish’s all-inclusive cross-generational male voice choir, Men Are Singing closing the show at 3pm.

The Moors Stage will feature music from Oh My God! It’s The Church, Fleetwood Mac Song Book, and The All-Day Breakfast Band.

Sunday, April 23

Cooking demonstrations on Sunday will feature, Tim Kendall, Ed Hughes, James Knappett, Elly Wentworth, Kate Atlee, Josh Eggleton and Charlotte Vincent.

Ann’s Family Field will have a Kid’s Dance workshop from 10am to 11am, followed by a literacy talk by Gail Muller.

At 12pm another silent disco for kids followed by a band called The Farmer, The Seaman, and The Teacher at 1pm. DJ Andre will take to the decks at 2:15 followed by Tom from Helston & Katrin closing the show at 5pm.

Sunday’s lineup for the Moors stage welcomes an all-female shanty group from Falmouth, Acapella Moonshine. They will be followed by Cadgwith Singers at 1:30pm. And closing the show at 3pm is the Military Wives Choir.

Music comes from Old Time Sailors, Bryher’s Boys and Boiler House on the Moor’s Stage.

The festival is free to attend on each day. However, for some evening events a paid for ticket is required.
