A busy weekend of celebrations continued on Sunday when Helston marked the King’s Coronation.

Just two days after the town was taken over by Flora Day, this time it was a royal occasion that brought the crowds back out.

A Big Lunch event was held at Coronation Park, with Helston Town Band taking centre stage again with a series of popular tunes – and of course finishing with the ever-popular Flora Dance, which still produced rapturous applause, just 48 hours after the day itself.

Also performing were female harmony group Acappella Sound.

People brought picnics to enjoy on the grass and the square next to the boating lake as they listened to the entertainment, with many bringing Union Flags to wave, bunting and even homemade crowns.

A Beacon lighting ceremony also took place at Grylls Monument on Saturday evening, in an echo of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last summer.
