A shop selling exclusive Doc Martin merchandise around the world has launched a new website to cater for demand ahead of the final series launching in the US.

Wes Hamilton previously had a shop in Port Isaac, where the popular TV series starring Martin Clunes was filmed, but closed ‘May Contain Nuts’ at the end of last year.

Instead she has decided to concentrate on redesigning her website, which now comes with a new logo, after seeing an increase in custom worldwide for memorabilia celebrating the show.

The long-running medical comedy aired for nine series between 2004 and 2019, before concluding with one final series in autumn of last year, with the last ever episode shown as a Christmas Day special.

This is now due to be shown in the USA, where it has a popular fan base that has brought tourists to Cornwall, and in particular Port Isaac, for the last decade.

Doc Martin Merchandise Ltd, run by Wes, is the exclusive producer and distributor of Doc Martin merchandise worldwide, from tea towels and mugs to branded biscuits and a range of other gifts and goods produced in Cornwall specifically for the fan base.

Wes said that 37 per cent of Doc Martin merchandise is exported to the US.

She added: “I’m excited to launch a brand new logo and website which will be more interesting and user friendly to the Doc Martin and Port Isaac lovers.”

The website will sell magnets, keyrings, postcards, posters, coasters, pens, bookmarks, biscuits, fudge, chocolate, mugs, tea towels, and aprons.

Shortly after the final episode aired, production company Buffalo Pictures released a documentary called ‘Farewell Doc Martin’ that featured Wes.

It also gave an insight into behind-the-scenes filming with the much-loved cast and crew, while Malcolm Bell, CEO of Visit Cornwall, had a few following interesting facts on the series and its impact locally.

These included that two per cent of visitors to Cornwall each year directly attribute their visit because of Doc Martin, which equated to in excess of £100 million revenue for the local businesses in Cornwall.

Due to the popularity of the series, especially in the US and Australia, most of the present range is distributed outside of the UK.
