PEOPLE living in Camborne are being invited to express their interest in a project aiming to transform Camborne Railway Station with a landmark installation.

Camborne Business Improvement District (BID Camborne) has been awarded funding from the GWR Customer & Community Fund to create an inclusive, immersive experience that showcases the local community’s many achievements over the years. The project should begin in October and complete by February 2024.

A budget of £10,000 to £12,000 is available for the work.

The initiative is also part of Project A-Void Phase two, one of eleven ground-breaking schemes to improve Camborne with £23.7m of Town Deal funding. Led by BID Camborne, Project A-Void includes awarding grants to help improve existing business premises as part of an overall aim to enhance the town centre.

“The successful individual or group will need to engage with businesses, residents and the BID team on how the installation will look, as well as overseeing all aspects of its creation,” said BID Camborne director Ian Gilbert.

“We believe it’s an exciting opportunity to make a real impact on those visiting our town by rail – highlighting the difference Camborne has made locally, nationally, and internationally.

"There is a lot to be proud of and we believe the wow factor is what’s needed to help drive that message home.”

Those interested should email smile@cambornetown.com with their CV or portfolio and a statement about their plan and suitability by Wednesday, October 5 2023.
