CREWS from two Cornish coastguard rescues were called to rescue a dog who had slipped over a cliff in Cornwall on Tuesday.
The dog, a collie named ‘Kate’ had slipped over the cliff at Trewarvs Head, Rinsey and was left in an ‘extremely precarious’ situation when she was stuck on a ledge around a foot wide 20ft down the cliff.
According to the coastguard team, Kate was very “scared” and the crews struggled to get her into the rescue bag.
However, after keeping her calm and stroking her, she eventually got into the bag with some persuasion.
The Porthleven Coastguard Team alongside the Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team safely rescued Kate from the cliff ledge to be successfully reunited with her owner.

A spokesperson from Porthleven Coastguard Team said: The team called today to a dog who had slipped over the cliff at Trewarvs Head, Rinsey. The lovely collie called Kate was in an extremely precarious situation on a ledge around a foot wide 20ft down the cliff.
"Kate was very scared and it proved difficult to persuade her to get in the rescue bag. After about 30 minutes of calming her and stroking her she eventually with some persuasion got in the rescue bag.
"A massive thank you to Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team for a massive joint effort.
"If you see someone in difficulty along the coast, please dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
