Flushing’s Harbour House continues to make waves on the food scene as it hits two influential lists with it being recognised one of the best UK breakfasts.
National Geographic Traveller included the Flushing pub in its 13 best breakfasts in the UK list and Muddy Stilettos cited the pub opening as a key reason for Flushing and Falmouth being included in their recent Best Places to Live in Cornwall list.

Past winner of the Guild of Food Writers awards for Food Journalist of the Year and author of six cookbooks Felicity Cloake was commissioned by National Geographic Traveller to find the 13 best UK breakfasts.
She included Harbour House’s seven-days-a-week service saying: “Hog’s pudding, a boldly spiced white pudding, is a West Country speciality that’s rarely seen these days, so it’s worth ordering if you do find it on the menu.”

She continued, “And you won’t find it done much better than at award-winning Cornish chef Jeffrey Robinson’s new venture a short ferry ride from Falmouth, where it shares the plate with Cornish new potatoes and homemade sourdough toast as well as the usual sausage, eggs and bacon.” Harbour House’s lighter dishes such as muesli with compote and kefir were also highlighted, as was the setting, with Felicity saying: “The harbour views at the Harbour House in Falmouth only add to the charm.”

The recently renovated and reopened pub has also caught the eye of Muddy Stilettos Cornish correspondent Rachel Buchanan who compiled the digital platform’s best place to live in Cornwall, as part of their national best places list. Rachel says, “New to the harbour-side is the appropriately named Harbour House.
Owners Tamara Costin and William Speed took over in 2022, and revamped the old Seven Stars Inn, bringing new warmth and decor to the historic building, finally opening in 2023. Cosy and inviting in Autumn, windows and doors thrown open to the sea-front vista in summer, the drinks menu is particularly good.”
Owner Tamara Costin says, “We have always been about creating a day-long contemporary local pub – for Flushing locals and visitors alike. So, we’re loving that we’re being recognised both locally and nationally for what we’re bringing to the village, and to the surrounding area with all our collective hard work.”
