Newquay striker Rob Wearne could be on the verge of a dramatic return to former club Falmouth Town.
Falmouth boss John Dent has put in a seven day approach for the player, who is understood to welcome the opportunity to move back to Bickland Park.
Wearne, who joined Newquay at the beginning of the season, has been in fine form for the Peppermints, scoring ten goals in the league and cup - including a brace in their 2-3 win against Town back in August.
But the former Torquay academy player is said to have become increasingly disillusioned with life at Mount Wise, and informed Newquay manager Alan Carey of his decision to leave early this week.
If the move goes through, Wearne could make his first appearance back in a black and amber shirt when Falmouth welcome Witheridge to Bickland Park on November 30.
Former Town boss Carey is also believed to have made a late attempt to sign Kayne Trevaskis early this week, but the striker rejected the offer.
Trevaskis completed his move to Falmouth from Penryn Athletic on Wednesday night.
