A Falmouth town councillor says she "spitting mad" after claiming her dog ate human faeces laced with cannabis and collapsed.

Cllr Zoe Young, councillor for Falmouth's Arwenack ward, is now calling for public toilets to stay open late.

In a post on Facebook last night, Cllr Young said the vet had told her the condition was likely brought on by her pet Brioc eating human faeces contaminated with cannabis: "My big, beautiful, bouncy three-year-old dog Brioc is on a drip at the vets tonight after vomiting and collapsing, having (according to the vet) consumed a large amount of cannabis," she said.

"The vet says this was most likely from the s**t of a human who had eaten a lot of the drug and then s**t somewhere in the bushes."

She said the (previously open) lavatory close to where they had just been had recently been locked up a lot.

"Ostensibly after a wasted young homeless (?) man had been seen hanging around/sleeping in the vicinity," she said.

"If anyone, ever, dares to try telling me again that late opening public toilets and sanitary waste disposal provision are "too great an expense" due to "antisocial behaviour" or "protecting local campsite businesses" or whatever other feeble excuse they dream up for failure to maintain the very basics of public health in our communities.

"I will not only invite them to cover my vet bills, but also suggest they personally come and clear up the next five piles of human s**t I come across within 200 yards of a previously public but now closed toilet facility.

"I am, seriously, spitting mad here."

She said the vet is keeping her beloved companion animal in overnight to monitor for seizures. She said apparently along with the collapsing seizures are a common symptom of this kind of poisoning.

In June, Falmouth Town Council announced that toilets in a Kimberley Park were to be closed early over the summer following another year of persistent vandalism.

Falmouth Town Council, which operate the toilets in Kimberley Park in Kimberley Park Road and elsewhere in the town, say they were forced to close the toilets early as the vandalism showed no sign of abating.

A spokesperson for Falmouth Town Council said that all its administered toilets were open until 9pm with the exception of Kimberley Park toilets which had to close early due to repeated and sustained vandalism which had resulted in up to £400 worth of damage a night.
