Cornwall is the backdrop for where many familiar TV shows were filmed – but how much would it cost for the opportunity to re-live your favourite moments by actually moving there?

Market analysis by estate agent comparison site, GetAgent.co.uk, has revealed how much money homebuyers need to spend to live in the same location in which their favourite TV programme is set.

Among them is Port Isaac, which serves as the town of Portwenn in popular TV show Doc Martin.

The series first aired in September 2004 and, at that time, the average local home cost £180,749. Today, it is 70.6% more expensive at £308,267.

With the average house in the UK costing £288,000, the desirable Port Isaac is considerably above average – with many happy to pay for the beaches and countryside views, as well as the opportunity to re-live much-loved scenes right where they were filmed.

Of course to live in the actual house that featuerd as Doc Martin's home and GP surgery will cost you quite a bit extra again.

Co-founder and CEO of GetAgent.co.uk, Colby Short, said: “We’ve all thought about upping sticks and moving to our favourite TV towns at some point and with many top shows filmed right here in the UK, the idea isn’t as crazy as it might seem.

“It’s interesting to see that these famous filming locations have all largely held their own in the last year when it comes to house price growth, despite the wider economic landscape.

“What’s more, they’ve also seen a considerable level of house price appreciation since their respective on-screen portrayals first aired.”

The highly adored series Poldark was also filmed in many different breathtaking Cornwall locations, from the famous gallops along the rugged Cornish clifftops above Chapel Porth, to Charlestown, Porthwarra, St Agnes Head and Bodmin Moor.

Cornwall has experienced a significant spike in housing prices in the last decade, with a 51% increase since the release of Poldark as the average overall house price in the Duchy over the past year sitting at £362,631.

With House of the Dragon, the prequel to Game of Thrones, among a number of other TV shows and films shot here, Cornwall is not short of being a coastline filming hotspot, which makes it all the more desirable for fans – some experiences will always remain priceless!
